How much is a garage door?

We often get asked this question over the telephone and is a very difficult question to answer!

Firstly, you need to decide whether it’s an up and over, sectional, roller or side-hinged garage door you want. If you go for ‘up and over’, there are 2 options: canopy or retractable gear.

Secondly, you need to know the size, colour, pattern, surface finish you require and also whether you require a motor or windows.

You also need to consider whether you would like a steel door, timber door or GRP garage door. With side doors, there is also an option to have aluminium!

To put in simple terms, a basic up and over garage door, in white, as a vertical or horizontal ribbed option, including frame at a standard single size could be anything from £750 upwards (this includes fitting). We can also do ‘supply only’ if you feel confident to fit the door yourself!

Sectional doors are slightly more expensive than an up and over and like the up and overs, it depends on pattern, colour, finish and also whether you go for a single skin or a double skin 42mm thick insulated door.

All doors can be fitted behind your opening or between the brickwork. Think about the width you need, ie do you use your garage to store your vehicle? If so, it may benefit to fit behind your opening to give you the extra width.

If you are thinking about a roller door, you need to check on headroom availability.

These are just a few of the factors you need to think about when considering a new garage door. We have a full working showroom for you to look round and expert staff on hand to explain the differences between the many types! You can also call us on 01623 621999 for advice over the telephone! We look forward to hearing from you!
