They are also very low maintenance, having no springs, cables or tracks protruding into the garage. They also offer the maximum drive through width and height, providing they are able to open up to at least 90 degrees.
Side-hinged swing doors are available in timber, GRP, single skin steel or double-skinned insulated for extra warmth, security and draught-proofing. Side-hinged garage doors start from £1600, plus fitting.

Security
Usually, side-hinged swing doors are fitted with a lever type handle on the inside and outside and can also be fitted with a knob handle on the outside for added security.
A 3 point locking system can also be installed, locking the door leafs together in 3 places. There are different style hinges, door stays and high security bolts available for added security. Motors can be installed to side-hinged doors also, increasing the level of security.

Installation
Side-hinged garage doors are fitted between the brickwork and the installation would usually take a full day. Lead times from point of order are usually 6-8 weeks.
We remove the old door and frame and dispose of them, leaving the site clean and tidy. We can also fit necessary fascia to complement the overall aesthetics.
Sizes
Side-hinged garage doors are available in standard and purpose made sizes. Typically, side-hinged garage doors are a 50/50 split but we can also install 1/3 2/3 split. These can be fixed or bi-fold panels, with windows as an option too.

Maintenance Tips
So, once you’ve had your new door installed, there are a few maintenance tips which our engineers will discuss with you, but if you need a reminder or simply want to clarify what he said, then here are the main points to be aware of:
- Make sure area round door clear
- Always operate from centre of panel
- Regular lubrication, ie light oil, WD40 on springs, heavier oil (oil can) to pivots, rollers and any other moving parts. Oil lightly then remove excess oil with cloth
- Recommended to clean face of door 3-4 times a year, ie with car shampoo, most doors are a fully finished product
- Lubrication and checks should be done every 3-4 months. If parts getting over lubricated, then use lighter oil and clean off excess
- Any moving part will need lubrication
