Graham Kirk
Managing Director and Founder
Graham is managing director here at Mansfield Garage Doors. He started the business in 1968 with his father, Ron and the business started out as Kirk Silo Installations Ltd. They built grain storage silos on farms, then in the 1980’s, the business diversified into what we do now, which in the main is garage doors and gates. Graham is of retirement age now but is still involved in the business every day! Graham is based in the office mainly but does visit sites to carry out surveys.
On a personal level, Graham has been married to Sue for 55 years and they have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren! Graham loves steam trains, getting involved with the Mansfield Sister Cities Association and socialising with family and friends. He is also a retired JP but still helps out volunteering at special school events within the court.
Sue Kirk
Financial Director
Sue is financial director here at Mansfield Garage Doors and looks after the accounting side of the business. Sue had other accounting jobs while their daughters were at school and got involved in the family business full time during the 1990’s. Sue is of retirement age but is still actively involved in the business.
Sue is involved in many societies as well as running the family business. She is a member of Soroptimist International, Probus and involved also in the Mansfield Sister Cities Association, The Alzheimer’s Society and Singing for the brain!
Rachel O’Connor
Director and Marketing
Rachel is Graham and Sue’s eldest daughter and makes up one of the 4 directors of the company. Her previous discipline was in Food Technology which she studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and where she lived for 15 years after graduating. Rachel has worked in a technical position within the food industry, including F Duerr & Sons Ltd, famous Manchester Jam manufacturers and also had the role of assistant Technical Manager at Warburtons Bakery, another famous northern business. Rachel has been married to Dave, who also works in the business, for 23 years and they have two children. After having her second child, she came to work within the family business part–time but has been full-time since the children started school. Rachel is responsible for the marketing side of the business as well as the accounting, diary management, invoicing and ensuring the business runs smoothly, keeping up our fantastic reputation.
Rachel enjoys getting out with their two Labradors for walks around our local area, as well as swimming, travelling, socialising with friends, theatre and music!
Alison Phelan
Director & Human Resources
Alison is Graham and Sue’s younger daughter and makes up one of the 4 Directors of the company. Her previous discipline is in HR and she has had many years with multinational companies in a HR capacity, including Coca-Cola and Center Parcs, before joining the family business. Alison attained B(Sc) in Business Management at Bradford University while working for Coca-Cola on a degree apprenticeship. Alison also lived in Manchester for 4 years with her sister, Rachel, where she covered the North West of England for the marketing department with Coca-Cola. Alison is married with 3 children and lives in Mansfield Woodhouse with her husband, Kieran. Alison’s main job roles in the business are accounting, HR matters and diary management.
Alison enjoys family trips, walking their Spaniel, Jess and spa breaks!
Michael Davison
Engineer
Michael is one of our senior engineers and has been with the company for over 37 years! Michael has a very keen interest in aviation and he loves to travel. Michael has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren. His expertise is sectional garage doors and roller doors. One of Michael’s twin sons, Josh works for us too!
David O’Connor
Engineer
David, originally from Salford, has been with the company for 21 years and deals mainly with the repair and annual servicing side of the business but is also conversant with installations and surveying. David is the son-in-law of Graham and Sue. He has been married to Rachel for 23 years and they have 2 children. David’s main interests are motorsports including karting, which involves taking their son all over the country to race events. He’s also a bit of a softie when it comes to animals and has 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs!
Ben Morton
Surveyor
Ben joined us from a long career at Center Parcs and has been with us for 8 years. Ben trained up on all aspects of the job, including new garage door installations, repair work and site surveys. He is now our main surveyor and also gets involved with new door installations when needed. Ben is a keen golfer and is married with one daughter.
Bradley Holmes
Engineer
Brad has been with us for just over 2 years now and has fitted right in and is popular with our customers.
We’ve known Brad‘s dad for many years, through the garage door business so he’s a natural when it comes to garage doors!
Joshua Davison
Engineer
Josh has been with us for over 3 years now. He is the son of our most senior engineer, Michael, who has worked for us for nearly 37 years! Josh’s plan is to beat his Dad on number of years service to MGD!!!
Josh came to us a few years ago to fulfil his work experience and had wanted to come back ever since. He has previous experience, mainly with windows and doors, but his attitude towards work and his ‘happy go lucky’ personality are fantastic attributes and he’s fitted right in!
October 2024, he became a father to a lovely daughter, Harriet, with his partner Elle.
